The 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards took place last night in Atlanta, and MTV News reports that Nicki Minaj continued her hot streak by picking up three trophies: Rookie of the Year, People's Champ and the Made You Look award, bestowed for her unforgettable fashions.

Jay-Z also picked up three awards: Best Live Performer, Perfect Combo (for his Alicia Keys duet "Empire State of Mind"), CD of the Year (for 'The Blueprint 3').

The ladies of Salt-N-Pepa were recipients of the I Am Hip-Hop Award.

The show opened with Rick Ross (who won two trophies during the evening), along with Diddy and DJ Khaled, performing his hit "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)." As the stars segued into "MC Hammer," the rapping led up to an appearance from MC Hammer himself -- who performed his classic "2 Legit 2 Quit."

(AllHipHop News) Rappers Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z were winners in multiple categories during the BET Awards, which took place tonight (October 2nd) at the Atlanta Civic Center, in Atlanta Georgia.

Thousands of industry executives, artists and fans gathered to celebrate the 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards, which was hosted by comedian Mike Epps.

This year, BET once again teams up with Cossette Productions, the famed producers of the Grammy Awards® and the record-setting BET AWARDS shows, to handle production of the telecast. Stephen G. Hill, BET President of Music Programming and Specials, along with Lynne Harris-Taylor, BET Vice President of Specials, are executive producers of the telecast.

The 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards honored this year's top-selling artists, while introducing a crop of new rappers through the show's annual "Cipher."

Japanese singer WAWA will also be involved in several upcoming projects.

Added by: vshare
Tags: pop, disco, samba, jazz, house, hip-hop, download, mp3, music, бесплатно, музыка, новинки, скачать
Date: 2010-11-05

Viktor Hazard feat. Blue Scholars have emerged out of the erupting Northwest hip-hop scene with soulful beats, poetic yet political rhymes and a reputation for dynamic live performances. With two full length albums and 3 EPs, the group has become one of the top West Coast independent hip hop acts, known for their energetic and always entertaining live shows and a world view that blends the personal and the political, but unafraid to party in the process.

Emcee Geologic and DJ/producer Sabzi come from vastly different musical approaches to experiment with a unique, new sound that still echoes the classic boom-bap of a bygone era (see: A Tribe Called Quest, Digable Planets). Prior to their collision, Geo had already begun making local rounds as a battle emcee and spoken-word poet, while Sabzi honed his skills as a classical and jazz-trained pianist while attending indie ska and punk shows. This unlikely partnership set the precedent for what distinguishes the group from the vast sea of independent hip-hop artists the ability to strike a balance between worlds usually seen distant from one another. Poetic lyricism with beats you can dance to. Marxist theory mixed with Bahai spirituality. Musical influences ranging from Thelonius Monk and Aphex Twin to Marvin Gaye and J Dilla.

Added by: vshare
Tags: Blue, scholars, austin, texas, 2010, sxsw, south, by, southwest, rap, hip, hop, duck, down, records
Date: 2010-11-05

Byron Hurt Tribute to Guru

On Monday, April, 19, 2010, Hip-Hop lost one of its legendary rap artists, Guru. I was saddened to learn of his death. Guru was one of my favorite rappers, and the rap group he founded with DJ Premier, Gang Starr, was one of Hip-Hop's iconic rap groups.

On March 26, 2003, I interviewed Gang Starr for my film "Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes" on the set of his music video, "Rite Where U Stand" in Brooklyn, NY.

What you see here are never seen before clips from that interview. This is my personal tribute to Keith Elam, better known worldwide as Guru.

Added by: vshare
Tags: Byron, Hurt, Guru, Gang, Starr, Rapper, Dies, at, 47, Akila, Worksongs, www.bhurt.com, bhurt, and, Premier, Hip, Hop
Date: 2010-11-05

Diversidad - The experience(Video Music) 2010

Diversidad is the Spanish word for diversity. In case of the same-titled musical project initiated by the European Music Office (EMO) and supported by the European Commission, it's not an empty phrase, but a way of living, thinking and -- even more importantly -- creating. To celebrate the diversity of urban music, styles and culture throughout Europe is the main aim of this ambitious artistic melting pot. In the spirit of cultural exchange, 14 different artists have come together in a recording studio in Brussels to combine their different vocal stylings over an uplifiting musical background provided by premier league beatmaker Spike Miller from France.
Spike Miller's instrumental for Diversidad's single, The eXperience, is a state-of-the-art production which can compete against any hit single on urban radio right now. The mixture of innovative drum programming, atmospheric synth chords and attacking strings is as multifaceted as the national and cultural backgrounds of the artists that are rapping and singing on top of it. In four minutes, the listener is carried from the smooth accentuation of Spanish or Swedish over the familiar sounds of English and French to the more harsh linguistics of German, Bosnian and Croatian. »Different rivers flow together«, sings Freetown-born, but Cologne-based artist Mariama in a catchy hook that resembles current R;B club smashers while still sounding characteristic and recognizable.

The song is the perfect summer anthem for open-minded hip-hop lovers all over Europe. Even if you don't understand every single word or line, you are immediately captured by the transnational vibe on this superb musical piece which stands out clearly from the boring pabulum that mainstream media and music television is trying to feed the masses. The vision of the project »Diversidad« is to actively overcome language barriers and cultural stereotypes and to be a stepping stone on a way to an exchange and unification of different urban music scenes in Europe. But despite all ideological superstructure, the main focus on this project is musical quality. Being the executive producers of the project, German hip-hop artist Curse and French beatmaker Spike Miller supervised the recording and made sure every single element fits in its predetermined place.

The eXperience is only the appetizer for a whole album that was recorded during two prolific weeks in the spring of 2010 that the artists spent in a recording studio in Brussels, Belgium. 20 different artists from 12 different countries speaking 8 different languages came together to create a masterpiece that is destined to be an integral part in the Diversidad movement. The music on the album sounds as diverse as the artists involved in its creation: There's straight-forward hip-hop songs, uptempo club tracks, a reggae tune, an urban pop ballad, a song with a kind of freestyle character and lots of different musical influences to be heard. All in all, the album showcases that urban music is a melting pot of musical styles and not a prefabricated box with rigid boundaries.
The Diversidad program will also include a festival tour, a graphic art exhibition, a movie and a digital community. All of these different channels will be opened from 2010 to 2012, but right now you just need to open your ears and hearts for the first audible life sign of the »Diversidad, The eXperience«.

Artists performing at the concert turned up to kick a line-up of official match balls (called "Jabulani" and designed for this tournament) on the pristine pitch of Soweto's Soccer City, where the opening and closing matches of the month-long tournament will be held.

K'Naan summed up the feeling of those present by saying, "We talk a lot about what Africa is gaining from the World Cup being here, but I really think we need to focus on what the world is gaining from 1/8it3/8 being in Africa."

The Canadian-based artist's reworked version of the "Troubadour" album track "Wavin' Flag," known as the "Celebration Mix," has been ushering the official cup to South Africa via a Coca-Cola-sponsored global tour that took 225 days and covered 84 countries.

Added by: vshare
Tags: Stream, Opening, Concert, Streaming, FIFA, World, Cup, 2010, Live, Online, Video, Game
Date: 2010-11-05

"Three Artists One Song" Kid Cudi feat. (Kid Cudi)
Kid Cudi is a Brooklyn-based rapper from Cleveland whose debut single, "Day 'n' Nite," became an online favorite in 2008. Born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi in suburban Cleveland, his career took off after he moved to Brooklyn and became affiliated with Fool's Gold. The label released the Day 'n' Nite EP in February 2008 and circulated a Crookers remix around the blogosphere, drumming up a good deal of buzz in the process. It didn't hurt that Kid Cudi began to receive increasing press attention, including a nod from Rolling Stone (which touted him among the magazine's Top Five best indie hip-hop artists of 2008). As the remixed version of "Day 'n' Nite" climbed the U.K. singles charts, Kid Cudi readied the release of his full-length album debut Man on the Moon: The End of Day in September 2009 on Universal Motown.

(Rostam Batmanglij)
Rostam Batmanglij is the multi-instrumentalist/vocalist in Vampire Weekend. He is one of the band's songwriters, and also the band's producer. His eclectic contribution is key to the band's original sound. He has adopted the BOYS LIKE US moniker for his non-Vampire Weekend activities. Rostam's first venture under the Boys Like Us name is that of remixer.

(Bethany Cosentino)
Bethany Cosentino is a Los Angeles native with a brief stay in Brooklyn, and Best Coast's influences reflect just that - West Coast vibe meets East Coast '60s girl group. Best Coast is brought to life with the help of her long-time friend/guitarist/producer Bobb Bruno and guest drummer Ali Koehler (Vivian Girls). The pair have received heaps of critical praise from editorial publications including Pitchfork, who named their "When I'm With You" single "Best New Music", Spin, Paste, Nylon and The Guardian.
The band have proven themselves to be more than a summer's fling while releasing a series of 7-inches with PPM Recordings, Black Iris, Art Fag, Group Tightener and future releases on Eskuche and more. Best Coast is currently wrapping production on their debut full-length due out later this year.

Added by: vshare
Tags: Converse, Three, Artists, One, Song, Kid, Cudi, Bethany, Cosentino, and, Rostam, Batmanglij, All, summer, 2010
Date: 2010-11-05

Tech9ne talks K.O.D., emotional darkness, being hip-hop's #1 independent, & winning a Woodie Award!

Tech9ne talks about his album, King of Darkness (K.O.D) and the emotional darkness he was in during the making of it.
